Our recent brush with Dali gave me the perfect excuse to blog about our trip last summer to the Dali Museum in his home town Figueres. It was on the drive home from Barcelona & I could not pass on the opportunity to visit.
The surrealistic building embodies what Dali is all about - whimsical, funny & unpredictable.

Funnily enough, with the naked eye, from afar you couldn't make out the image but when I took the picture with the camera, the image stood out very clearly

I always never really understood Dali or Surrealism in general. His Melting Clock terrifies me. I guess art really is subjective!
PS : I really could not tell who the portrait is, was it a self portrait?
Hi Tsu Lin. My favorite of the Surrealist artists is Rene Magritte. Dali's art can be a little dark but you can't say it lacks personality.....
The portrait is of Abraham Lincoln. I couldn't even tell who it was until I looked thru the camera. It doesn't translate well back into photo.

Ahh! Rene Magritte, his work is pretty intellectual (and amusing). Ok, he;s a good example of a Surrealist.
And dear Abe, now I see it too. Was thinking he looks very familiar.
