Creepy crawlies

I hate creepy crawlies. Considering that I live in the countryside, you would think that I would have gotten used to them by now. NO. I'm a wuss when it comes to creepy crawlies. I'm particularly terrified of cockroaches - thank god we don't find them here.

But even spiders, bugs & any unnamed insects make me run the other way. Don't even get me started on rats & mice. I usually let X deal with them. When he's not around & I have no choice, my weapon of destruction is the vacuum cleaner. That way I can suck them up without getting too close or worse having to pick them up.

Guess what I found this morning in our breakfast room - a scorpion. Yikes !! Thank god I saw it first before The Girl got there. Out came the vacuum cleaner & the little critter is now trapped in the vacuum......at least until I can gather up enough courage to empty it.

Welcome to the club, babe!

I used the vacuum cleaner too in my 1st few months in this house, but nowadays I must be getting blasé as I would usually just squish spiders, wasps, flies etc with a book or a piece of tissue, remove webs with whatever I can reach and just this evening I squashed another spider with my crocs. We've found like 15 scorpions in 13 months here...

But I would still leave the carcasses to the Hub to dispose of, somehow I get really sick thinking of having to pick them up. And I've yet to find the courage to squash lizards and mice, too much of a mess.

And right now, I drive out of the compound with all windows tightly shut, there are crickets jumping out of nowhere all over! Keep having to fish them out of the small pool too. Yucks!!!

I meant another (adult)scorpion...unfortunately. And I fear that there must be others in the house as just saw a few babies a few days ago and you know they have them by the dozens.

try sprinkling lavender onto the window sills (in a shallow box). suppose to help keep the creepy crawlies away!

btw, define a wuss???

Lotus - I found quite a few scorpions last year but this was the first one this yr tho'. They freak me out big time.

Which reminds me I have a bunch of kids coming over tomorrow. Better make sure we're scorpion free.

Meng - go to www.urbandicitonary.com My favorite dictionary on the web. Definition of wuss - coward, chicken, wimp & others which I will not reveal here cos this is after all a child friendly blog.
