I'm not a crafty person.
Arts is not my forte. In fact, it was my Archilles heel in school - barely scrapping a pass on the subject.
But I don't want this to limit The Girl in any way. When she was old enough (I think around 2), we started doing crafts. I bought an excellent book by Judy Press - Exploring Arts & Crafts with 2-to-6-year-olds The Little Hands Art Book which I highly recommend. Simple instructions & easy to make crafts. I've also just ordered Rosie O'Donnell's Crafty U & can't wait to see what is in store.
For her 2nd birthday, her aunt gave her an easel & she took to it immediately. So I try not to worry about the mess, bought her an apron, a bunch of water coloured paints & let her paint to her heart's content.
Despite the new schedule that we have going on, one of the few things that I haven't given up are our Wednesday afternoon playgroups & our craft sessions together. On Wednesdays, French children don't go to school. They used to go every other Saturday but as of this school year, they are in school only 4 days a week. So on this "hump" day, I take a break from going to the Site & stay home with The Girl.

These were papier-mâché plates & cups leftover from the last playgroup which we are still painting & decorating whenever we have time.
